MABKHARA

This side lamp is an original design which can also be used as a mabkhara, or incense burner. The artist simply turned the mishkah form upside down, transforming the splayed neck into a foot. The domical body is etched and perforated with floral patterns with a band of calligraphy around the center which reads:

"God is the Light of the Heavens and the Earth. His Light is like a lamp within a niche."

The dome is surmounted by a globular finial crowned by a knop.
